School Canteen

The project involves the construction of a permanent prefabricated school canteen of approximately 115 m², installed within the courtyard area of a primary school in Nice, France.

The structure is designed to a

ccommodate 90 students, organized in two shifts of 45, and complies with French regulation RE2020 regarding environment and energy efficiency.


Space Distribution

The building is divided into three functional areas:

  • Service area, including pantry, preparation room, kitchen, washing area, waste room, and staff changing room.
  • Canteen area, for students.
  • Restroom area, with independent access from outside the building.

Construction Features

The external cladding is made with Trespa® HPL panels with concealed fixing.

The connection between the existing school and the new building is provided by a single-pitch metal canopy, with roofing made partly with sandwich panels and partly with polycarbonate.


Comfort and Finishes

The canteen was designed based on a specific acoustic study, using materials capable of ensuring low sound reverberation.

The flooring is differentiated according to the intended use of the rooms:

  • ceramic in service areas;
  • UPEC-certified non-slip PVC flooring, with wall cove, in the canteen area.

Energy Efficiency

The construction complies with French regulation RE2020, which defines requirements relating to the energy and environmental performance of new buildings.
